Issues: Religion Abortion

Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) voted today for the Conscience Protection Act, which prevents the government from discriminating against hospitals, doctors, nurses, and health care providers that decline to provide or pay for abortions as a matter of conscience.

"The First Amendment protects religious freedom and conscience rights for everyone, and we must not abandon these fundamental rights. It's wrong to use the coercive power of the federal government to compel health care professionals to participate in procedures that violate their deeply held beliefs. Rights of conscience are to be cherished and defended, not swept aside," said Walberg.
