Pearce Statement on Decision to Release Full Orlando Transcripts

Statement

Date: June 20, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Pearce issued the following statement after the Obama Administration reversed its decision to censor the Orlando shooter 911 transcript:

"This is the correct decision, unfortunately, it came far too late. This is the highest law enforcement agency in the country and yet, even after releasing the fully redacted version -- the President is still editorializing it. For example choosing to use words like "God' to replace "Allah'. It should not be the responsibility of a mourning nation to demand transparency from their Commander in Chief. It is essential for the Administration in times of great loss and concern to be transparent and accountable, and not attempt to censor the obvious influence the gunman had from ISIS Foreign Muslims. People should know the truth- the full truth. Downplaying ISIS' role in this act of terror is irresponsible of this Administration," said Congressman Pearce.
