Klobuchar Statement on the Unanimous Well-Qualified Rating of Chief Judge Merrick Garland by the American Bar Association

Statement

Date: June 21, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) released the following statement on today's unanimous "well-qualified" rating of Chief Judge Merrick Garland by the American Bar Association, the highest rating one can receive:

"Today's announcement that the American Bar Association has unanimously given Judge Garland its highest possible rating is further evidence that this exemplary jurist is deserving of his nomination to the highest court in the land. It has now been close to 100 days since Judge Garland was nominated, and it is well past time for the Senate to do its job by holding a public confirmation hearing and an up-or-down vote on his nomination."

Klobuchar is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which has jurisdiction over Supreme Court nominees. She served on the Judiciary Committee during the confirmation of Associate Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. Prior to her time in the Senate, Klobuchar served as Hennepin County Attorney.
