Issue Position

As a former public school teacher and college administrator, Geraldine Thompson will continue her support for our public schools. She believes we need schools where students can succeed, regardless of their zip code, and will work to restore funding to our schools. Geraldine believes we must restore confidence in our teachers, by working with them and reducing unnecessary testing. Studies have proven time and time again that education is the key to breaking generational poverty and reducing crime.

In higher education, Geraldine supports a debt free college for everyone. She will work to provide free community college through expanded grants as proposed by President Obama. Geraldine believes that graduates should have the opportunity to pay off their debts through other avenues, like community service, and reduce the severe burden on our recent graduates.
