Following the conclusion of the historic 26 hour sit in, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos issued the following statement:
"While I am disappointed that Washington Republicans refused to even hold a vote to prevent terrorists from getting deadly weapons, this has been a historic event and the American people have been heard loud and clear. When obstructionist members of Congress return to their districts, I am confident that their constituents won't give them a break for refusing to even allow an up or down vote on these common sense proposals to save lives. I am hopeful that when we return from the Fourth of July work session, they will be willing to come to the table and work with us on these bipartisan proposals."
