U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced over $2.5 million to support Head Start and Early Head Start programs in Bismarck and Mayville.
"A quality education starting at a young age helps set children on a strong path forward," said Heitkamp. "Head Start and early childhood education programs have proven to be catalysts for children's success later in life by supporting their educational needs and bolstering their social wellbeing. These federal funds will help enable children in Bismarck and Mayville to access the early childhood education programs that will give them that early boost."
These federal funds are distributed as follows:
Bismarck Public School District - $1,505,068
Mayville State University - $1,090,590
The federal funding is made available through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of the Administration for Children & Families' Office of Head Start.
