Issue Position: Fighting for our Coal Families

Issue Position

When coal takes a hit in Kentucky, our communities take a hit. And yet, the federal government is trying to shut down coal mining in Kentucky. Their work has already started this devastating process in many of our communities as we've watched our coal mines shut down. Coal has been our hands down biggest issue while Rick Nelson has been in office, but he has done nothing to protect this American-made source of income.

I am in tune with our community here in Bell and Harlan County. It's part of my job as an insurance agent to know the issues that our citizens face and help them with their options for the future. Our families are cutting back and making due to the best of their abilities. I have listened as our residents discuss just how out of touch our current representative is. It's time we elected someone eager to fight for our community again. We need to send the message to federal mine inspectors that they cannot regulate our industry out of business. Together, we may continue to ensure that Kentucky has access to the power we need to keep the lights on and keep the coal mining jobs that are worth fighting for.
