Congressman Heck Votes for Anti-Immigrant Supreme Court Brief

Statement

Date: March 17, 2016
Location: Las Vegas, NV

Former Nevada Attorney General and candidate for United States Senate Catherine Cortez Masto released the following statement on Congressman Heck's vote today to file a brief with the Supreme Court against President Obama's executive actions to keep families together:

"Congressman Heck's vote today is yet another unfortunate vote against Nevada's immigrant families at risk of being torn apart. These executive actions to keep families together wouldn't even be necessary if Congressman Heck and his Republican colleagues had done their job and passed comprehensive immigration reform. Instead of filing anti-immigrant briefs with the Supreme Court, Congressman Heck should urge his Republican colleagues in the Senate to do their jobs and take up the vacancy on the Supreme Court. Unfortunately, in the era of Donald Trump leading their Party, all we can expect is more partisanship, dysfunction, and attacks on immigrants from Congressman Heck and Republicans in Congress."
