Zinke Statement on Resignation of VA Montana Director

Statement

Date: June 8, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Today Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke released the following statement after VA Montana director John Ginnity announced his resignation.

"Our veterans deserve the absolute best we have to offer, sadly the VA has fallen tragically short at fulfilling their mission of providing care to our warriors. The VA must immediately embark on a thorough search for the right person to lead the VA in Montana," said Zinke. "It's time to shake things up at the VA and I think every effort should be made to get the right person in that job. As the VA moves forward, I believe they should seek out women leaders to promote. Women are serving in the military at historic levels, and research shows women make 80 percent of the healthcare decisions in their households. Their input and leadership will only bolster the service our veterans were promised."

During his time in Congress, Ryan Zinke supported a number of bills to improve the VA including the VA Accountability Act, which would make it easier for the VA to terminate bureaucrats and employees for wrong doing, and the Women Veterans Access to Quality Care Act to modernize the VA to properly care for our female warriors.
