This week, the House of Representatives passed a series of bills that will help small businesses thrive and expand:

"As a former New Mexico small business owner, I know firsthand how difficult it can be for a business to get off the ground, let alone succeed and expand when weighed down by government requirements and mandates. I am proud to have supported and the House pass legislation that will provide the breathing room needed for small businesses and Americans to prosper.

"Small businesses are the cornerstone of our economy. They provide the majority of new jobs created, and account for over 90 percent of all employment throughout the nation. For our economy to continue to recover and flourish, Congress must support legislation that makes it easier for New Mexicans, and Americans nationwide, to start new businesses - and for existing businesses to expand and hire more employees. That is exactly what the House has done this week.

"Across New Mexico, individuals and families continue to struggle to make ends meet. Unemployment in the State remains too high, and incomes are too low. Easing unnecessary regulation and burden on our nation's top job creators, small businesses, is one of the simplest steps that the House can take to provide new jobs and opportunities for New Mexicans," said Congressman Pearce.

The five bills passed the House of Representatives unanimously and now head to the Senate. Click here for a summary of the bills.
