Bryan Caforio Outraises Congressman Steve Knight in Competitive 25th District

Bryan Caforio announced today that he raised $163,842 in the first three months of 2016 for his campaign to represent California's 25th Congressional District currently held by vulnerable Republican Congressman Steve Knight.

In his first quarter filing of 2016 with the FEC, Congressman Knight reported raising $161,971, which included large donations from the oil and gas industries while only 49.2% of his money came from individuals.

"While Congressman Knight continues to face questions regarding his extreme policies and relationships with corporate donors, Bryan Caforio has built a broad coalition of support and a people driven campaign," said Orrin Evans, Caforio's Campaign Manager.

This is the second consecutive quarter Caforio has outraised Knight. After announcing his candidacy in December 2015, Caforio raised more money in one month than Congressman Knight raised during the last 3-month reporting period of 2015.

The campaign reports a total of $301,741.97 raised since December 2015 with over $200,000 cash on hand and 97% of contributions made by individuals.

The announcement comes on the heels of Caforio being named to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's Red to Blue Program as one of the most competitive races in the country, and builds on the momentum of recent endorsements by the California Labor Federation, Equality California and Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom.

Caforio was born and raised in Southern California by two public school teachers, attended UCLA and Yale Law School, worked for a United States federal judge, and practices as an attorney taking on some of the world's biggest banks. Bryan lives in Valencia with his wife Lisa, who serves as a Deputy City Attorney at the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office.

The 25th District covers northern Los Angeles County and part of Ventura County including the Antelope Valley, Palmdale, Lancaster, Santa Clarita, and Simi Valley. President Obama won the district in 2008, and experts consider it a toss-up in a Presidential election year. Last year Democratic registration eclipsed Republican registration for the first time, and the district is now majority-minority. National Republicans list Congressman Knight as one of their most vulnerable incumbents.
