John J. Dutra, CEO of Dutra Enterprises in Fremont, announced his endorsement of Ro Khanna in his 2016 race to represent the 17th Congressional District of California.
"I respect Congressman Honda deeply, am grateful for his past service. I believe, however, that our community's future would be best served a new perspective such as Ro's, said John. "Ro Khanna not only understands the concerns of small businesses, but also understands the need for both sides of the aisle to work together to get things done. That's a rare combination among politicians, but one that's sorely needed to help our small businesses grow, create more and better jobs, and continue to invest right here in California."
Dutra is the CEO of Dutra Enterprises, a Commercial Real Estate firm in Fremont, and a prominent civic leader. He serves as Chair for the City of Fremont's Park and Recreation committee, is on the Board of Niles Rotary and serves as Secretary to the Washington Hospital Healthcare Foundation.
"I am honored to receive the support of John J. Dutra," Khanna said. "His family has made tremendous contributions to Fremont and the state, I look forward to working with John to help small businesses continue to grow and thrive across the Bay Area."
The endorsement follows a string of prominent area Democratic leaders who either supported Khanna's Democratic opponent, 8-term Congressman Mike Honda or remained neutral in 2014, who have recently announced that they are now supporting Khanna in 2016, including:
