Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) today released the following statement congratulating Captain Kristen Griest on becoming the U.S. military's first female infantry officer. Griest is a native of Orange, Connecticut, which is located in Connecticut's Third Congressional District.

"Captain Griest continues to blaze new paths for women in the U.S. military and I could not be prouder of her achievements. Last summer when she became one of the first two women in history to complete Army Ranger School, Captain Griest said that she would keep reaching higher. Today, she did just that upon graduating from the Maneuver Captains Career Course," said Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro. "On behalf of the Third Congressional District, congratulations, Captain Griest--you have a promising career in front of you, and I look forward to watching more of your accomplishments for many years to come."
