Congressman Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL) released the following statement marking the 10th annual Jewish American Heritage Month:

"During Jewish American Heritage Month, we pay tribute to the achievements made by the Jewish American community. Jewish Americans have helped shape our nation since its inception, contributing to research and academia, arts, sports, and business, and standing at the forefront of movements for civil rights and equality.

"I am proud to serve alongside a number of Jewish American Members of Congress. Together, we work to make our country a more prosperous and tolerant place.

"As we recognize the legacies of the Jewish Americans who have helped make our nation what it is today, we must take time to reflect on the work that remains ahead. Forces of anti-semitism are on the rise across the globe, and at home, the struggle for equal opportunity continues. As we celebrate the heritage of Jewish Americans this month, let us refocus our efforts on making our country a more inclusive society for all."
