U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp announced $507,959 in federal funding to the North Dakota Department of Health to improve health care for those living with HIV/AIDS.

"We must make sure those in North Dakota living with HIV or AIDS have access to treatment," said Heitkamp. "The high cost for medications can make it increasingly difficult for those with these diseases to afford treatment, but this federal support will help change that by making it more accessible and enabling these individuals to get the support they need."

These federal funds are made available by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. This grant program supports states to improve the quality, availability, and organization of HIV/AIDS healthcare services so that those who cannot afford medication and treatment have the resources needed to live healthy lives.
