Sanford Votes to Repeal Obamacare

Statement

Date: Jan. 6, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Representative Mark Sanford (R-SC) released the following statement today about his vote to repeal Obamacare:

"Today, I voted to repeal Obamacare, and I think this marks a very strong start to 2016 in two regards. One, this vote starts the year's legislative agenda off on the right foot. The President will certainly veto the bill, but repealing Obamacare has been a long-fought battle, and this moves us in the right direction. Two, given it would reduce the deficit by $516 billion over ten years if passed, the bill itself takes a step toward some much-needed financial responsibility, even though this won't affect the President's decision. My hope is that this will help start a larger discussion on government spending."
