Tim's tax policy votes will make Ohio's economy stronger, and Ohio's families more secure! Stronger state revenue receipts made a number of tax changes possible this year. Tim supported a bill that includes a provision increasing the earned income tax credit for lower income citizens from 5%-10%. Additionally, the personal income tax deduction has been increased for Ohioans earning less than $80,000.00 a year. The law also accelerates Ohio's income tax reduction; and increases tax cuts aimed at our small business owners from a 50% to a 75% reduction on the first quarter million in small business earnings. Tim's primary focus continues to be on those things that help to improve our economy; while allowing more money to remain in the hands of the citizens and businesses who earned it.
As Commissioner, Tim Brown refused to raise taxes. When the economy took a turn, Tim Brown voted to cut government spending. The county sales tax remained the same for more than 20 years, creating a business-friendly environment, while helping hardworking taxpayers and their families meet their personal budgets. Out of 88 counties in Ohio, only 5 have a lower sales tax rate than Wood County. In Columbus, Tim Brown has continued to fight tax increases that will harm our economy, stifle our recovery and get in the way of job creation.
