Lance: Sanctions Will Keep Iran In Check

Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today backed H.R. 3662, the Iran Terror Finance Transparency Act, legislation that would prevent the Obama Administration from lifting any sanctions related to Iran's missile testing or other recent provocations.

"This week Iran is pinning medals on the captors of our U.S. Navy sailors, declaring an "offensive' in response to sanctions and preparing another missile test. After the Obama Administration handed Iran billions of dollars in sanctions relief we must take action to demonstrate that we will not tolerate Iranian actions to destabilize the world and taunt the United States," said Lance.

When the legislation was debated in January, Lance took to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to urge his colleagues to hold Iran accountable for its provocative actions against the United States. H.R. 3662 strengthens congressional oversight of U.S. sanctions against Iran and prohibits the Administration from lifting sanctions specifically targeting Tehran's destabilizing activities, including the testing of its ballistic missile program, abhorrent human rights abuses and support for some of the world's worst actors and terrorists organizations.
