Statement from Congressman Dan Donovan on Opioid Abuse Legislation

Statement

Date: April 7, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

"Two months ago, I pledged to fight for legislation to address the opioid epidemic with the same vigor as my successful fight to permanently extend health programs for 9/11 first responders. Since then, I have spoken with Congressional leadership and worked with representatives from districts facing similar substance abuse epidemics.

"Today, House leadership committed to bringing legislation to the Floor in the coming weeks to assist local governments with treatment, education, and enforcement.

"This battle will be fought on the local level, but the federal government must provide the tools necessary to win. With today's news, we're one step closer to making that a reality."
