Issue Position

Medicare and Social Security are guaranteed promises that we, as a nation, have made to each other. All of us benefit when seniors can count on having both access to health care and enough income in their senior years to have a dignified retirement. Our seniors earned it after having paid for it with years of hard work. I will fight to keep that basic guarantee for both current and future generations.

I strongly oppose the privatization of Social Security and efforts to turn Medicare into a voucher program, or any other attempt to cut guaranteed benefits. Unfortunately, Cresent Hardy and his radical allies have been trying to privatize Social Security and end Medicare as we know it. In Congress, I will protect these programs that our seniors have worked so hard to earn and so richly deserve.
