Today, the House of Representatives passed HR 757, the North Korea Sanctions Enforcement Act of 2015. Congressman Bill Keating, Ranking Member of the Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade Subcommittee of the Foreign Affairs Committee, was a lead sponsor of this legislation.

HR 757 aims to tighten existing sanctions and create additional ones against North Korea regarding their weapons program. Importantly, this bill would cut off financial avenues that continue to support the Kim regime and their munitions program.

"I am proud to be a lead sponsor of this important legislation," said Rep. Keating. "As we saw last week, North Korea continues to aggressively pursue their weapons program in the face of established standards and despite strong opposition from the international community. It was not a matter of "if' but "when' North Korea would again test their weapons capabilities, and the January 5th reported test will not be the last. Passage of HR 757 today demonstrates a unified, bipartisan commitment to closing loopholes and increasing pressure on North Korea. Continued pursuit of its weapons program and perpetration of severe human rights abuses cannot go unanswered."
