Ways and Means Advances Legislation Providing Tax Certainty

Statement

Date: Sept. 17, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Today the Ways and Means Committee, of which U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant is a member, advanced five bills that would make permanent a number of important, long-standing tax credits for families, small businesses, and teachers.

"We cannot bring lasting strength to the American economy with a tax code that denies working families and small businesses the certainty they need to plan for the future, save, and invest," said Marchant. "Tax uncertainty is a plague on our economy, but there is a cure -- permanence. That's what is provided by the legislation I helped advance with my colleagues today. These tax relief measures bring greater simplicity and certainty to our tax code. This, in turn, will help the American families, teachers, and businesses who give life to the U.S. economy. As we continue working to fix our broken tax code, I will keep pushing to deliver the tax certainty that Texans of my district deserve and depend on."

In addition to the five tax relief bills, the Ways and Means Committee also advanced two bills that would dismantle portions of Obamacare.
