Congressman Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.) today stood up for Kansas jobs and values by voting for the Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act of 2015, which would repeal key aspects of Obamacare and defund Planned Parenthood. This legislation, which would also cut our national debt by over $500 billion over the next decade, passed the U.S. Senate in December and was approved today by the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 240-181.
"I can think of no better way to start off 2016 than by passing legislation to overturn the president's broken, job-killing health care law and to stop taxpayer funding for organizations and clinics, like Planned Parenthood, that perform abortions," Pompeo said. "Kansans do not want their health care dictated by Washington bureaucrats, and they do not want their tax dollars going to abortion providers. It is our duty to lead the fight and offer the nation a clear, alternative vision. I am proud that Congressional Republicans are attempting to undo the damage done by this administration. This important legislation takes the right steps our country needs and that Kansans have asked of me."
Pompeo continued, "Though I wish the president would listen to Congress and the American people and get serious about fixing the damage caused by his failed policies, I suspect his ideological devotion to big government will win out. However, this fight is not over. I will continue the work that the people of Kansas sent me to do."
