Huelskamp Veteran Small Business Owner Legislation Passes House

On Tuesday by voice vote, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 3016, the VA Provider Equity Act. This legislation includes the full text of the Protecting Business Opportunities for Veterans Act of 2015 which was introduced by Congressman Huelskamp and passed out of a House Veterans Affairs subcommittee in March 2015. The Huelskamp language modifies existing requirements for Veteran-owned small businesses to prevent fraud and help oversight authorities enforce and hold accountable those manipulating the system.

Congressman Huelskamp released the following statement on the bill:

"My common sense legislation makes certain that Veteran-owned small businesses receive the benefits they deserve. It will provide law enforcement with the necessary tools to crack down on contractors who use illegal pass-throughs and other methods to take advantage of set asides reserved for our Veterans. The Protecting Business Opportunities for Veterans Act will ensure that qualified Veterans receive the contracts to which they are legally entitled."
