Press Release

Date: Dec. 8, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Today, the House passed H.R. 158, the Visa Waiver Program Improvement and Terrorist Travel Prevention Act by a vote of 407 -- 19. This legislation closes gaps in the Visa Waiver Program screening process, adds additional layers of protection, enhances screening of travelers to the United States, improves information sharing, and prevents fraud. Congresswoman Susan W. Brooks (R-IN05) issued the following statement after supporting H.R. 158:

"Reforms to the Visa Waiver Program will help enhance our national security and close existing gaps in our screening processes. The near unanimous action of the House today will help prevent extremists from gaining entry into the United States and improve intelligence and law enforcement information sharing to more quickly identify potential threats. There is still much more work to be done to ensure the safety and security of the American people, and I will continue to work with my colleagues to strengthen our visa processes, find solutions, fortify vulnerabilities, and keep our homeland safe."
