Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos voted in favor of H.R. 4038, the American SAFE Act of 2015.

"With its deadly attacks in Paris, ISIS already has proven its capacity and determination to kill everyday people. We have an obligation to do everything in our power to protect the American people. That includes insisting upon additional safeguards by our national security agencies," said Congresswoman Cheri Bustos. "After thoroughly reviewing this legislation and receiving a classified security briefing, I am convinced that America can be strong, smart, and humane by continuing to provide refugee assistance to the women and children fleeing rape, torture and murder while also making it more difficult for terrorists to take advantage of our compassion. America will continue to be a beacon of hope and freedom to those fleeing violence around the world. This reasonable action reaffirms our commitment to these values while taking meaningful steps to prevent terrorist attacks on American soil."
