Takai Statement On Troop Involvement In Syria

Today, Congressman Mark Takai (HI-01) released the following statement in opposition to The Obama Administration's announcement that the United States is sending around 50 Special Forces into Syria to advise the Syrian opposition in its fight against ISIS:

"We cannot let ourselves engage in another Middle East conflict with no clear end, under a law that was enacted 14 years ago. Before we commit any additional resources to the Middle East, there needs to be clarity as to the role the United States will be playing. I encourage my colleagues to bring the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) to the floor so we can have a full and open debate and hear the voice of the American people."
