Meet Jim Renacci

Statement

A 30 year resident of Ohio's 16th district, Jim Renacci has dedicated his life to his family and his community. Jim grew up in a working class family outside of Pittsburgh, PA, raised by his father, a railroad worker, and his mother, a nurse. The first in his family to graduate from college, Jim earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Shortly after graduation, Jim moved to Wadsworth, Ohio where he initially worked as a certified public accountant. In 1985, Jim entered the healthcare industry, forming LTC Management Services, which owned and operated nursing home facilities throughout Ohio.

In 2003, Jim formed a financial consulting company that, in addition to taking ownership of several businesses, also provided consulting services to numerous troubled businesses throughout the region. Jim also served as owner and general manager of the Arena Football League's Columbus Destroyers, and helped manage the team to capture the Eastern Conference Championship in 2007.

In addition to his work in the private sector, Jim has also engaged in a long-term commitment to public service. From 1984-1988, Jim served as a volunteer firefighter in Wadsworth, as well as on the city's Board of Zoning Appeals from 1993-1994. From 1999-2002, he served two terms as President of Wadsworth's City Council and then served as Mayor of Wadsworth from 2004-2008. During his time as Mayor, Jim brought his vast business experience to his role in government, converting the city's multi-million dollar deficit into a surplus and balancing Wadsworth's $80 million budget--all without raising taxes. Over the course of his career in both the public and private sector, Jim has created over 1,500 jobs in the area and has established a strong record as a sound steward of the economy.

In November of 2010, Jim was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Jim is a strong believer in the virtues common sense conservatism, fiscal responsibility and government accountability. Since taking office as the 16th district's representative to Washington, Jim has sought to work with Republicans and Democrats alike, using his vast experience as a job creator to help advance the pro-growth policies we need to get America's economy moving again. Jim believes America's leaders in Washington must place progress over politics and work together to remove the end the job crushing policies that have defined Washington since 2009 and which are choking progress toward economic recovery.

Jim and his wife, Tina, have been married for 28 years and have raised three children, all of whom are now in college or graduate school.
