Rep. Davis Statement on Winning Primary

Statement

U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) tonight released the following statement after winning the primary for Illinois' 13th Congressional District:

"First, I'd like to thank the voters of the 13th District. I am humbled by the overwhelming amount of support shown by voters tonight. I first ran for Congress on the promise of governing and making the tough decisions now so that decades later my children and grandchildren don't look back and say, "I thought you fixed that?' Three and a half years later, I can say we've made progress.

"Republicans in Congress have forced this president to cut $176 billion in spending and make critical reforms to entitlement programs that will save taxpayers trillions down the road. We've passed bills that make lasting, conservative reforms to our education system, farm programs, waterways, and highways. And we've done this with a president who has never met a tax dollar he doesn't want to spend or a government program that isn't big enough.

"Just think what we could do with a president who understands the impact a 19-trillion-dollar-debt and government overregulation has on our economy's ability to create jobs that not only allow Americans to pay their bills but get ahead. That's what this election is about--it's about which future you want."
