Location: Concord, NH

Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement on the House Public Works and Highways Committee's bipartisan vote in favor of the Ten-Year Transportation Improvement Plan that she submitted, including $4 million in available Federal Transit Authority Funds for environmental and engineering assessment work for the Capital Corridor Rail project:

"Strengthening and modernizing our transportation infrastructure is critical to the success of our people and businesses, and the Ten-Year Transportation Plan is an important opportunity to advance critical transportation goals, such as road and bridge maintenance and preservation, completing the widening of Interstate 93, accelerating construction of Exit 4A in Londonderry and Derry and the first phase of widening the portion of Route 106 critical for access to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

"This also includes leveraging federal funds for the environmental and engineering work necessary to bring commuter rail from Boston to Nashua and Manchester, which will improve access to the entire region, provide new housing and transportation opportunities, spur economic development and create jobs. I applaud the House Public Works and Highways Committee for their bipartisan vote in favor of the Ten-Year Transportation Improvement Plan, and I look forward to continuing to work with members from both parties to advance these critical transportation goals."
