U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) released the following statement this evening following President Obama's address to the nation:
"In the wake of attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, the American people needed to hear a real assessment of the threat of ISIS and our failure to contain it. The intention of the Islamic State transcends any political ideology - we should know who comes into the country just as much as we should stop suspected terrorists from buying weapons. Our country needs a clear strategy to destroy the Islamic state, not doubling down on failed strategies."
