Tipton Blasts Obama for Using Troops, National Security as Political Pawns

Congressman Scott Tipton (R-CO) blasted President Barack Obama for "playing politics with America's troops and national security" by vetoing the strongly bipartisan 2016 National Defense Authorizations Act (NDAA) passed by the House and Senate.

"The bipartisan NDAA that the President vetoed today would have provided our men and women serving in harm's way with the resources necessary to do their jobs as effectively and safely as possible, and included needed reforms to reduce bureaucracy at the Department of Defense," said Tipton. "It's a disgrace that the President is using the paychecks of our men and women in uniform, many deployed in harm's way, to try and leverage more money for bloated, lawless agencies like the EPA. The President has chosen to veto just the fifth NDAA in 53 years instead of doing what's in our country's best interest and signing this bipartisan bill to ensure that our military has the resources necessary to protect our country and that our service members and their families receive the pay and benefits they have earned. Our troops' pay and the security of our nation should not be treated as political pawns by the President."
