Congressional Candidate Larry Dichiara Questions Mike Rogers on Obama Budget

Statement

Today, congressional candidate Larry DiChiara issued the following statement regarding Rep. Mike Rogers recent vote supporting an extension of our nation's borrowing limit:

"Congress is bankrupting our nation both fiscally, and morally. Washington's relentless spending spree has brought our country to the brink of fiscal collapse. It is unsustainable. And it is wrong.

While American families have been forced to make difficult financial decisions, Washington has pushed our nation's debt to dangerous levels and is placing the future of our children and grandchildren into the shackles of foreign interests

We cannot afford to ignore our nation's debt crisis - our nation's sovereignty is at stake.

Unfortunately, ignoring the crisis is exactly what Rep. Rogers did last Wednesday when he joined Alabama's only Democratic member of Congress in supporting President Obama's liberal agenda and extending our nation's borrowing limit.

Currently, our nation's debt exceeds $18 trillion. Since taking office, our nation's debt has increased by $1 billion every seven hours. I am disappointed Rep. Mike Rogers has joined President Obama and his liberal cronies in bankrupting our country.

I understand what it takes to trim fat from a budget while bringing people together to solve tough problems through innovation and forward thinking: I have done it in my business and I have done it as a former school superintendent--now, I am ready to do it in Washington.

Our children and grandchildren deserve to be left with a legacy of the American Dream."
