Rep. Mimi Walters on Budget Agreement

Statement

Date: Oct. 28, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Mimi Walters (CA-45) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 1314, the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015.

Said Rep. Mimi Walters, "I'm pleased the House and Senate were able to work together and produce a fiscally-responsible two-year budget deal. While this deal isn't perfect -- it makes some critical changes to existing laws, including: securing much-needed reforms to the entitlement programs that are driving our rapidly-growing national debt, repealing a harmful provision of Obamacare, supporting our troops, and preventing a dangerous default. Furthermore, this bill restores a regular order to our appropriations process, helping Congress avoid the govern-by-crisis approach of past years. Perhaps most significant, are the funding levels provided for the Department of Defense that will help restore military readiness in the face of ever-increasing global threats. This necessary deal will lay the groundwork for Congress to enact meaningful reforms that will benefit everyday Americans."
