Rep. Curbelo Responds to Leopoldo Lopez's Sentencing

Rep. Curbelo issued the following statement in response to last night's sentencing of Leopoldo Lopez.

"Leopoldo's sentencing last night for supposedly inciting violence is just the latest blow to Venezuelan liberty and demonstrates Nicolas Maduro's complete disrespect for due process and the rule of law.

Amidst the chaos wrought by Maduro's failed socialist policies, Venezuela is teetering precariously towards anarchy.

I call on President Obama to condemn this illegitimate show-trial and call for the immediate release of all opposition leaders that have been unjustly imprisoned by the thug. Otherwise, we must impose increased sanctions on the Maduro regime to cut-off its ability to oppress their own people."
