Congresswoman Hahn Releases Statement Ahead of Pope's Address to Congress

Statement

Date: Sept. 23, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congresswoman Janice Hahn (CA-44) released the following statement ahead of Pope Francis' address to a joint session of Congress:

"I am looking forward to hearing the Pope's historic address to Congress and I am very happy that some of my constituents were able to come to Washington to witness this event.

His recent statements on climate change, income inequality, and immigration resonate with me and my own religious beliefs. Between the homelessness crisis in Los Angeles, to the plight facing undocumented Angelenos and their children, I know these are issues that matter to my community.

I am excited to welcome the People's Pope to Washington and I hope that we may take his message to heart: that we need to care for our planet and the people on it."
