Congress Sends ObamaCare Repeal to the President's Desk

Press Release

Date: Jan. 6, 2016
Location: Washington, D.C.

Today, with the support of Congressman Ryan Costello (PA-06), the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 3762: Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act, a measure to repeal some of the most harmful measures in the President's healthcare law. Now that the House has acted, the legislation will go directly to the President for his signature or veto. This is the first time Congress has sent a major repeal of the Affordable Care Act to the President's desk.

Following passage of the bill, Congressman Costello released the following statement: "Last year, Congress took critical steps to ensure families and small businesses do not fall victim to some of the most harmful provisions in ObamaCare. We suspended the medical device tax, delayed the punitive "Cadillac' tax, and stopped a taxpayer bailout of ObamaCare's risk corridor program. This year, the House and Senate are sending a strong message to the President that American families need practical, permanent relief from the adverse impacts of this law. ObamaCare has been more expensive, which is why I believe we should focus on reforms to make healthcare more affordable, with less government mandates and administrative paperwork. Bottom line -- for far too long, ObamaCare has burdened individuals, families, and job creators with broad, one-size-fits-all mandates and prevented healthcare providers and innovators from concentrating on their most important responsibility - the delivery of quality healthcare. Congress has listened to the American public and is ready to work to achieve bipartisan, patient-centered solutions to expand access to and improve the quality of healthcare."
