Democratic Caucus Chairman Xavier Becerra (CA-34) released a statement following the announcement that the Supreme Court will take up the case of President Obama's executive actions on immigration:

"The Supreme Court waited until the last moment, but it finally moved to restore a sense of order and consistency in the rule of law by agreeing to hear the case of President Obama's executive actions on immigration. For Americans harmed -- or simply frustrated -- by our broken immigration system, this could be a sign of good news to come.

"Instead of working through Congress to fix our broken immigration system, challengers are using our courts to maintain a broken status quo at the expense of our families, our security and our economy. No family should be torn apart because of the failure of Congress to do its job.

"President Obama acted well within his authority in proposing commonsense executive actions on immigration. I am confident that the Supreme Court will rely on the Constitution and precedent to affirm his actions."
