Mikulski, Cardin Announce $150,000 in Federal Funding for Carroll County Airport

U.S. Senators Barbara A. Mikulski and Ben Cardin (both D-Md.) today announced that the County Council of Carroll County has been awarded a $150,000 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to study infrastructure upgrades at Carroll County Regional Airport /Jack B. Poage Field in Westminster.

"Our regional airports play a key role in maintaining Maryland's robust economy," said Senator Mikulski, Vice Chairwoman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, which funds DOT. "These funds in the federal checkbook mean improvements to the Carroll County Regional Airport will be done in a safe and sustainable way while keeping Marylanders on the go."

"Maryland's regional airports keep our economy growing and help create good jobs. We need to do all we can to maintain safety and improve efficiency so they can better serve the neighboring communities," said Senator Cardin, a member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee. "I am proud that we can continue to deliver federal investments that will enhance flight operations at Carroll County Regional Airport."

Federal funding will be used to study the environmental impacts of the proposed construction of a replacement runway, a full-length taxiway, land acquisition and obstruction removal projects at Carroll County Regional Airport /Jack B. Poage Field.
