Ribble Supports Healthcare Improvement Reconciliation Bill

Statement

Date: Oct. 23, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Reid Ribble (WI-08) today released the following statement after voting with the House of Representatives to pass H.R. 3762, Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act:

"I voted today for a bill that would, in one step, make the biggest improvements to our healthcare laws since I have been in office. It would reform or dismantle the most harmful parts of the Affordable Care Act, including the costly individual mandate and medical device tax. It would shift federal dollars currently flowing to abortion providers to community health centers, ensuring that people are able to receive the care they need without taxpayers being forced to fund organizations that provide abortions.

A big problem in the Affordable Care Act was the focus on health insurance rather than health care. By requiring every single American to purchase a health insurance product, the Affordable Care Act propped up the industry in an unprecedented way. This bill gives Americans the right to choose what they will purchase and how to spend their hard-earned dollars."
