Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-TN) released the following statement after voting in support of the conference report for H.R. 22, the Surface Transportation Reauthorization and Reform Act:

"This bipartisan, bicameral, five-year highway funding bill brings certainty in transportation planning to state and local governments, while eliminating bureaucracy to allow states to invest funds where they need it most. This bill will provide much-needed certainty and resources to start the long process of repairing and replacing the failing infrastructure around this country. It provides federal, state and local governments with the ability to strategically plan their projects and spend wisely, which will save taxpayer resources. We've got to fund roads and bridges around the country, but we've also got to work smarter and do more with less. I've said time and time again that I strongly believe we need a long-term highway funding bill, and I thank Chairmen Shuster and Thune, as well as the House and Senate conferees, for making this a priority."
