Issue Position: Fighting Crime And Protecting Victims

Issue Position

During my time in the Senate, I have introduced legislation to combat rape and sexual assault and to stop human trafficking and focused on protecting our nation's most vulnerable members, our children. Examples include the Military Sex Offender Reporting Act, which ensures that the FBI tracks military sex offenders, like civilian sex offenders, so others will not be victimized. I championed the Kilah Davenport Child Protection Act, a bill named for a North Carolina child and aimed at ensuring there are appropriate criminal penalties for those who abuse children. Additionally, I have worked to aid those who are victims of sex and labor trafficking and ensure those who exploit others are brought to justice through supporting the Trafficking Victims Protection Act.
