Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement today on the resignation of New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner Nick Toumpas, effective January 8, 2016, at today's Governor and Council meeting:

"As the commissioner of the state's largest department, Nick Toumpas has demonstrated an unyielding commitment to the health and well-being of all Granite Staters. Under his leadership, the Department of Health and Human Services has helped maintain New Hampshire's status as one of the healthiest states in the nation and -- among other notable accomplishments -- has successfully implemented our bipartisan health care expansion program, which is providing more than 43,000 hard-working Granite Staters with quality, affordable health insurance. On behalf of the people of the Granite State, I thank Commissioner Toumpas for his dedicated service, and I wish him the very best in the future."
