U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) is continuing his work to help America's veterans. This week, the Senate passed a number of proposals authored or co-authored by Sen. Toomey as part of an omnibus veteran's legislative package. The provisions in this bipartisan bill that were sponsored by Sen. Toomey include:
"Veterans in Pennsylvania and across the country have not received the care and support they deserve," said Sen. Toomey. "Working on a bipartisan basis, the Senate has passed a variety of proposals that will help address this shortcoming and better fulfill our obligations to those who have fought for our country.
"In particular, I am pleased that the Senate is taking concrete action to address the unacceptable backlog at the VA. As a member of the Senate VA Backlog Working Group with Senator Casey, I have been working on a series of reforms so veterans get the timely processing of claims they need. Our legislation - which is now one step closer to becoming law - has been carefully crafted and reflects a lot of hard work by lawmakers from both sides of the aisle."
