Location: Frankfort, KY

Governor Steve Beshear announced today that U.S. Deputy Secretary of Transportation Victor Mendez, a champion for the nation's vital transportation infrastructure, will visit Louisville next week to speak to an automotive conference and to view progress on the downtown Ohio River bridge project.

"Any time we welcome a high-ranking cabinet official to Kentucky, we have an opportunity to showcase how we're doing things right in the Commonwealth," said Gov. Beshear. "Kentucky ranks number one per capita in the U.S. in light vehicle production and third overall, and the success of that industry depends heavily on reliable and safe transportation infrastructure. Deputy Secretary Mendez is well-acquainted with the innovative Ohio River Bridges project, and we are proud to show our progress."
