Governor Rick Scott announced today that the Miami area gained 14,700 new jobs in October over the year. The area's unemployment rate declined by 0.4 percentage point over the year to 5.9 percent in October. Florida businesses have added 978,800 private-sector jobs since December 2010.
Governor Scott said, "The Miami area added over 14,000 jobs over the year in October and the unemployment rate has continued to drop, which is great news for families in South Florida. We will continue to compete for jobs so Florida can become first for job growth."
