Rep. Israel Statement on Recent Violence in Israel

Congressman Steve Israel (NY-03) released the following statement regarding the recent violence and acts of terrorism in Israel.

"For too many days now, we have heard the heart-wrenching reports of violence and terrorism against innocent Israelis. And today, we watched as Israeli police thwarted yet another terror attack in Jerusalem.

"Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas must condemn these actions, prevent incitement, and act immediately to stop these dangerous individuals from slaughtering more innocent Israelis. Not only are these actions hurting innocent lives, but they are also hurting any pathway for peace through bilateral negotiations. Violence only leads to more violence; terrorism will never beget peace.

"Israelis deserve to walk down the street without being shot, or board a bus without being stabbed. As our strongest ally and friend, Israel will continue to have our support, commitment and unabashed condemnation for the abhorrent actions of these terrorists."
