Barrasso Statement on President's NDAA Veto

Statement

Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) released the following statement after President Obama vetoed the bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

"With today's veto of the bipartisan defense authorization bill, President Obama is choosing to hold American troops hostage. This bill gives our men and women in uniform the tools they need to protect our country, and a quality of life that they deserve.

"Despite Congress agreeing with the president on the amount of military funding, he is ransoming the well-being of our service members for more money to carry out his partisan domestic agenda through the IRS, the EPA and other agencies unrelated to America's national security.

"That the president would veto this bill at all -- and do so at a White House photo-op -- is disgraceful. That he would do so on a day when an American soldier lost his life in Iraq makes a mockery of what is at stake for American security. Our service men and women deserve better than the support they're receiving from this president. It's time for Congress to override this veto."
