Gov. Scott: Naples Area Added 4,200 New Jobs Over Year

Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the Naples area added 4,200 jobs over the year in September 2015 and their unemployment rate dropped by 0.8 percentage point over the year, from 6.4 percent in September 2014 to 5.6 percent in September 2015.  Florida businesses have added 941,000 private-sector jobs since December 2010.

Governor Scott said, "We are working every day to create an environment where Florida job creators can grow and create more opportunities for our families. The Naples area saw 4,200 jobs added over the year in September and the businesses in this community are helping Florida become first in job creation."

The industries gaining the most jobs in the metro area over the year in September 2015 were leisure and hospitality with 900 new jobs and education and health services with 700 new jobs. The Naples metro area had 4,461 job openings in September 2015, and the area also had 798 openings for high-wage, high-skill science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) occupations.

Florida created 8,700 private-sector jobs in September 2015, and a total of 941,000 private-sector jobs since December 2010. Florida's statewide unemployment rate for September 2015 was 5.2 percent. In September, more than 40,000 Floridians were placed in jobs by CareerSource Southwest Florida and the state's other 23 regional workforce boards.
