Congressman John Fleming, M.D. released the following statement after the U.S. Air Force chose Northrop Grumman to build the new Long-Range Strike Bomber (LRS-B):

"I applaud the Air Force's decision to move forward with Northrop Grumman to deliver this important capability that will eventually replace components of our nation's aging bomber force. Overseeing all of the nation's bomber fleet, Air Force Global Strike Command headquartered at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana will play a key role in fielding this aircraft that is critical to our national security. With the ability to penetrate enemy air defenses and strike targets at greater distances than other aircraft, the new bomber will ensure our Air Force can meet its long-range strike and strategic deterrence missions.

"Northrop Grumman also developed the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, leaving the project in experienced and capable hands. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee and founder and co-chairman of the House Long Range Strike Caucus, I have long advocated for the LRS-B program and look forward to continuing to support it throughout its life-cycle."
